A pictorial depiction
The scanner needs to be
approx. 5 - 10 cm from the lasered code image on the eartag. The scanner, reads
the picture and converts it
into a code in the GMPBasic
software. The scanner has to
be linked through a data
cord to the computer.
A blue tooth model is
available which sends the
code number to a docking
cradle which is plugged into
the computer. The GMP
program has to be open with
an operator managing the
data.
This is not RFID technology
Animal Ear Tag:

- Laser marked ID Tags distributed by
MSD Animal Health.
- Logo Cattle, Sheep, Goat, Pig, Ostrich.
- Laser marked simultaneously with
Machine and Human readable Unique ID no.
- These ear
tags are provided in paired sets with identical
human readable numbers. The ear tags allow for livestock
farmers to register their animal’s ID, management
protocols applied, adding value to their stock.
- These ear tags are available from participating farmer
co-operatives and Veterinarians.

base for trace-back
- Be able to trace all the way
back to raw ingredients
- Meat products must be traceable
back to the
individual animal.
